Communities In Action
How This Works
What is ME³'s Communities In Action (CIA)?

Helping out the community can sometimes seem difficult to get involved in, especially if you have never tried it out before.

ME³ stands for Motivate, Educate, Empower, and Engage. Our goal is to make getting involved in helping the community and
empowering people to do so as easy and fulfilling as possible. That’s what Communities In Action is all about.

Communities In Action is a 'databank' of individuals in Wake County, NC, who have signed up to get involved in helping the
community become a brighter, happier place to live for everybody. Individuals who sign up for Communities In Action will be matched
with opportunities to help out in the community that match their skills, interests, and schedules, and the volunteer organizations and
charitable efforts they are paired with will greatly benefit and get the help they need to make an even bigger difference.

Individuals in Communities In Action will also get opportunities to meet others helping the community at our Communities In Action
events, and to receive training to improve skills that can greatly help a local cause in crucial ways, such as training in emergency
response, charitable fundraising and grant-writing, or building community leadership ability.

Perhaps you’ve decided you want to get involved in helping the community somehow. Maybe you’re not sure whom to call. Maybe
you’re not sure where to look. Maybe you’re worried volunteering would be boring, or you’d get stuck doing something you wouldn’t
enjoy. Maybe you’re concerned that you don’t have enough time.

Communities In Action is designed to address all of these issues and more. All you have to do is sign up, and tell us a bit about
yourself and what you’re looking for in your ideal volunteer experience.
You tell us when you’re available. You tell us if you’d prefer
to help out doing an art project or working at a soup kitchen.
You tell us about your amazing talents and how you’d like to use them
to help others. And, if you aren’t up for the volunteer opportunity available for you at any given time,
you can tell us ‘no’.

How Does This Work?

To join Communities In Action, simply fill out our Communities In Action form on paper or online here and tell us about what you
want/are able to do to help the community: your availability and limitations, your skills and talents, your particular passions or
interests, and how we can contact you.

Then, Non-Profit Organizations and Charitable Efforts enrolled in our Registry will inform us of their volunteer needs. ME³'s
Communities In Action Agents will pair a volunteer need with an individual best suited to fill it.

How Does Communities In Action Benefit The Community?

Imagine how much good we can do with lots of talented, diverse people willing to be called upon to help out the community when
they are needed! Communities In Action benefits the community tremendously by helping charitable causes and organizations
expand their abilities to solve social issues and problems through the help of additional volunteers. Whether an organization is in
desperate need of somebody to help comfort the terminally ill or the community suffers from another Hurricane Katrina, Communities
In Action will enable us to quickly call upon those registered to help if they are able.

Also, by joining Communities In Action, individuals help ME³ promote volunteerism and helping others by demonstrating to others
that volunteering can be easy, fun, and fulfilling.

How Can Communities In Action Benefit Me As A Volunteer?

Volunteering and helping others is a very rewarding experience boasting emotional, mental, and physical health benefits!
Participating in Communities In Action would mean you would only be asked to help out when and if you are available, and only in
ways that fit your personal goals, skills, and interests, ensuring that every volunteer opportunity you take part in will be fun and
meaningful for you. Also, if you are a first-time volunteer, joining Communities In Action will provide a fun, friendly way to get
involved without feeling like you may be over-committing yourself.

Thank you for your interest in Communities In Action. To sign up, read our Communities In Action Rules and Terms, then simply fill
out the program enrollment form and Waiver offered by an ME³ volunteer representative, or fill out the forms online
here. With your
help, we can make a difference!
