Strike for Survival 2007 a Huge Success September 24, 2007
When a fundraising event in only its third year running attracts 300 participants, you know it’s a success. When it raises $22,000, you know it’s a huge success. Those are the numbers in at the conclusion of Strike for Survival, an annual bowling fundraiser to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The third annual Strike for Survival took place on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22 at two locations in Raleigh, Pleasant Valley AMF Bowling Lanes, and Capital Boulevard AMF Bowling Lanes. It was an event for all ages (and all skill levels), including pizza, soda, shoe rental, a tee-shirt, a goody bag, and a gift certificate to the 1705PRIME Chophouse restaurant in Raleigh that cost each participant only $25.
ME³ was proud to participate in Strike for Survival this year for the third year in a row. ME³’s Strike for Survival efforts were led by ME³ Treasurer, Tom Zajkowski.
“He did a fantastic job,” said Amber Smith, ME³ President. “Because of Tom’s work with Strike for Survival, ME³ volunteers were able to obtain and contribute several raffle prizes, thousands of dollars in event sponsorship, offer volunteer assistance at the event, and recruit at least 15 bowlers.”
Bob Liddle, founder and coordinator of Strike for Survival, says he hopes the event will be held at 9 bowling alleys to raise even more money for cancer research in 2008.
