ME³ Introduces New Board Members
August 26, 2007

After a break from projects to build organizational capacity, ME³ is back and ready for action, and with new Board members to make it happen!

The new Board of Directors contains six passionate individuals, each bringing expertise and knowledge to the table that can help take ME³ to the next
level. Three of the six are founding members of ME³ who have been dedicated volunteers since 2005. The other three are newcomers to ME³ excited
to use their skills to promote volunteerism in Wake County, NC, and beyond.

Serving as President is Amber Smith, co-founder of ME³. A volunteer with local organizations since she was 18, Amber wanted to find a way to get
others involved to help take down social issues across the spectrum. “I thought if more people were volunteering, the problems our community and
the world faces could be solved,” says Amber, “So we started ME³ to start getting more people involved.”

Nicholas Turza, U.S. Army Captain and avid volunteer, is serving as Vice President. He brings ample leadership experience and organizing skills to
ME³, and has some incredible service experiences under his belt from both inside and outside the United States!

Shane Fitzsimmons will be serving as Chairman of the Board. As one of the three founding members of ME³ serving on the Board, Shane has
participated in every ME³ effort from litter pick-up service projects to creating the layout for Empower, ME³’s free publication about volunteering in
Wake County.

Charlie Chrisawn, recent graduate of Davidson College, brings fundraising experience to the Board. While in college, Charlie was an active volunteer
in service organizations, and had a great time making a difference with both hands-on and administrative service efforts.

Colin Butler is the third of ME³’s founding members to serve on the Board, bringing valuable technical and computer-related knowledge to the table.
Active in ME³ service projects since its inception, Colin is currently playing a vital part in getting our Volunteer Registry database up and running for
2008.

Last but not least is Tom Zajkowski, Director of Corporate Taxes for Tekelec. Tom brings with him knowledge of accounting and taxes as well as
leadership and volunteer experience with organizations such as United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and the YMCA.

“This group has only been together for little more than a month,” explains Amber. “But already, I am floored by everybody’s passion and abilities. I
can’t wait to see what the future holds for us as a team.”
